Mark gained a lot of success during the 17 years in the music business. As a studio producer he had a lot of hits under the different pseudonyms. He had top 10 hits in Germany, UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, France etc… while using several different names.
After spending a lot of money hiring studios and equipment, he decided to build his own studio complex. Beatfreakz Studio’s was born and it currently houses 2 pre-production studios and 1 post-production studio.
2003 was the year of a well known hit record. All over Europe, Rockefellers’ “Do it 2nite”, was a huge success.
In 2004 he teamed up with Dennis Christopher and a super team was born. Under the name of Dennis Christopher they produced a number of hits for labels like; Hed Kandi and Boss records. Artists like Sugababes & Mika asked them to do remixes for them.
In 2006 another huge success was accomplished. Under the name of Beatfreakz they went straight to number 3 in the UK single charts with “Somebody’s watching me”. This was the beginning of world wide fame. Within 6 months they scored a second top 10 hit in the UK and in the rest of the world with “Superfreak”.
Because Mark was a big fan of the 80’s sound and Dennis was into the groovy club sound they decided to put the 2 styles together and started to make tracks under the name of Simmons & Christopher. Everybody liked this sound that resulted in many requests for remixes. Using the Simmons & Christopher ‘brand’ they have done remixes for non other then; Rihanna, Supermode, Alphabeat and Brit & Alex.
This was the moment to let the world know who the real Mark Simmons is. 2008 was the year Mark worked on establishing his own name. Within 3 months he scored a number 1 hit (2 weeks in a row) on Dance Tunes with Mark Simmons – “Get us High”. The same month he made a bootleg version of Kristine W’s house classic “Feel what you want”. The record was a humongous success and could be found in the record bags of famous DJ’s like: Laidback Luke, Axwell, Marco V. and Sander van Doorn.
The original record company of Kristine W “Champion” really liked the remake and decided to release it again as a Mark Simmons remix. Because of its astounding success, Champion asked Mark to do a remix for Kathy Brown vs. White Knight – “Sound of the City”. Again a hit was (re)born. Champion went absolutely nuts when hearing the remix. As a result Kristine W. got in touch with Mark. She was (ofcourse) delighted with the remix (and its’ success) and consequently asked him to do a remix for her new single “Never”. She also requested if Mark would be willing to do a brand new production for her new to be released 2009 album.
As a DJ Mark already has done many performances in places like London (Pacha), Djagilev, Fabrique, Opera (Moscow), Spain, The Netherlands, Germany and several big events in St Petersburg, Norway, Kazachstan etc…
He’s working hard to get to the real top. With new releases and remixes coming up, 2009 is destined to become his BIG year. He’s already well known, but the real top is a still long way to go. Because of his musical experiences all thru the years, he knows you always have to stay yourself. “You are as big as your last record” is a phrase he lives by just to make sure he always stays down to earth.
